Women's Day

I saw on the news this morning that today is International Women's Day.  What a concept.  Obviously I like the idea and I encourage the celebration of women everywhere.  It is so disheartening to see how women are treated throughout the world.  And it is inspiring to hear the stories of those who rise above all sorts of horrors to make amazing things happen.

I saw a link online today to a Time Magazine article listing 16 of history's most rebellious women.  It is fascinating.  And one of my heros is #6 -- Golda Meir.  I grew up hearing all about her.  I remember my Dad telling stories about when he met her (and sadly I have to admit that the details have escaped me today).  She looked like my Grandmother Molly.  And they were both such strong women with conviction.

It is so impossible to believe what happens to women in the world today.  I saw am article about the "femicide" in Argentina today.

Maybe if we celebrate women all over the world there would be a lot less pain and suffering in the world.  Men - pay attention -- the world can't continue without us.
